Western alumni and their families (defined as spouse, children, grandchildren, parents and siblings) may make a charitable donation directly to The University of Western Ontario and/or Foundation Western and receive a tax deduction for their U.S. income tax returns under the Canada-United States Income Tax Convention. The usual U.S. donation limits apply. On your tax return make a note that you or family members are/were a Western graduate or student.

The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of Western alumni in the UK, and the University’s President and Vice-President (External Relations). If you are a UK taxpayer, declare Gift Aid and you can maximize the impact of your contribution to The University of Western Ontario.
How it Works:
If you make a gift of £100 to The University of Western Ontario (UK) Foundation and declare Gift Aid, we can recover the basic rate income tax of your gift’s value, at no additional cost to you. For example donating £100 through Gift Aid would result in £125 going to The University of Western Ontario (UK) Foundation.
To “Gift Aid” your contribution, simply complete and return the attached Gift Aid Declaration form.

The University of Western Ontario is represented in Hong Kong through its charitable Foundation, The University of Western Ontario (Hong Kong) Foundation Limited. The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors, and the University’s President and Vice-President (External Relations). The Board oversees all giving through the Hong Kong Foundation, ensuring that donor wishes are met, and that the HK Foundation Scholarship is awarded each year.
Donations of HK$100 or more are tax deductible, generating a savings to donors at the 15% marginal tax rate in Hong Kong.
