HEALTH: Shape the future of health care, wellness and medical discovery
Robarts Research Institute at The University of Western Ontario is advancing scientific and clinical knowledge to improve the quality of life for Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers.
Pharmacologist Dr. Jane Rylett and imaging specialist Dr. Rob Bartha are collaborating on a unique research project that focuses on the early detection of Alzheimer’s disease. Understanding the changes that occur in nerve cells before clinical symptoms of Alzheimer’s appear could lead to the development of more effective treatment strategies. This will also help Dr. Rylett and Dr. Bartha determine what changes are reversible and which are permanent as well as establishing which patients are genetically predisposed to develop Alzheimer’s disease.
The Alzheimer’s Society of London & Middlesex together with Mr. Stewart Geddes, are donors who make a difference at Robarts where researchers are leading the way by shaping the future of health care, wellness and medical discovery.
